What should we do if the attack is happening now?
Choose 'We have an incident in progress' in the first question: you will see immediate steps and a button to message us on WhatsApp. In general, disconnect affected machines from the network without powering them off, change passwords from a clean device and do not delete logs or the attacker's messages.
Is my company required to protect the personal data it handles?
Yes. Mexico's Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties requires every data controller to set up and maintain administrative, technical and physical security measures to protect personal data (art. 18).
Do we have to tell customers about a data breach?
Yes, if the breach significantly affects their property or moral rights: the law requires the controller to inform them immediately so they can protect their rights (Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties, art. 19).
